* move test to catch2

* fix one broken test

* make some stuff constexpr

* refactor some checks involving exceptions

* replace CHECK_INVARIANT

* replace CHECK_INVARIANT

* clean up commented out debug logging

* initialize var

* remove redundant REQUIRE_MSG
